The world of thought is the sphere of tone, celestial music is a fact and not a mere figure of speech. Pythagoras was not romancing when he spoke of the music of the spheres, for each one of the heavenly orbs has its own definite tone and together they sound the celestial symphony. The following words are purported to have come through an intermediary, from the Archangel Raphael:-
'The sun intones His ancient song
mid rival chant of brother spheres,
his prescribed course he speeds along
in thunderous way throughout the years'.
Echo's of that heavenly music reach us even here in the physical world.
They are precious even though they are so very elusive. Of course the average person is not able to hear these mystic tones; only the highly advanced soul may be permitted to hear and know these heavenly tones.
Once these tones reach our physical world they die out and vanish since they cannot withstand the dense physicality. In the heavenly spheres these tones are of course far more beautiful and are able to have far more permanency, hence the musician who passes on into these planes hears a far sweeter strain than ever he did during his Earthly life. In our Earth life we are so immersed in the shattering noises and discordant sounds of our limited environment that we have lost the ability, and are incapable of hearing the music of the celestial orbs, but the occultist and those who have attuned their finer senses over a long period of time, indeed even over incarnations, hears it. They know that the twelve signs of the Zodiac and the seven planets form the sounding board and strings of Appolo's 7 stringed lyre. They know that were a single discordant note to mar the celestial harmony there would be a collapsing of matter and a crash of worlds. The voice of nature, the crashing of the ocean waves, the wind in the forest, the murmering of many streams,
birdsong, all go as well to make up the tone which is the keynote of our Earth.
Hence the tremendous value of being able, from time to time, of get away to some quite place in the mountains, forest or valley where one can be still and listen intently to the sounds of mother nature thus making contact with the tone of the Earth. Music, true music, and here one of course thinks of the great masters such as Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Bach, Wagner and a host of others who emanated or were open to the heavenly spheres, hence the profundity, the glory of their music which to this day still charms and uplifts the soul and brings down to earth some degree of the glory of the higher spheres and this is why these advanced souls rank so high in the spiritual hierarchy for they attempt to bring to man the atmosphere of the heaven worlds ( where as spirits we are citizens ) and to translate them into the sounds of Earth life. Sound permeates all forms, every object has its own specific tone or chord, from a mountain to a flower to a plant or tree, each human being. As the centuries slip away all these tones will slowly unite and be resolved into each other until some day the celestial symphony which the planetary Logos is composing will be completed and our Earth will be able to make its contribution to the great chords of the solar system.
Of the ancient peoples of this Earth the Chinese and the Indian were profoundly concerned with sound in form. The ancient Chinese called it the great Kung or tone, as they believed it resulted from the various sounds of nature. In India the human pulse is called "the drum of Shiva" the veritable music tone of the heart and certain highly advanced souls are taught how to change the pulse rhythm in order to produce a modification of certain bodily functions. The Chinese have diagnosed disease by the pulse for thousands of years. It is only in recent years that Western science has come to realize the inherant tones in dense form. The elder brothers of humanity have indicated that a most wonderful and incredible stage awaits man on the next round of cyclic evolution and that is that a great many advanced souls will come into incarnation with already developed etheric sight and hearing. So, the horizons of the future indeed beckon with great promise and radiance.
