For as long as I can remember I have had a fascination with foreign cultures and Ancient Wisdom, so much so that I wanted to become an Air Hostess when I left school so as to be able to travel the world and indulge in the experiences other cultures have to offer. My dream was shattered when I was told I was too short to become an Air Hostess because I would not be able to reach the overhead cabins. I was devastated. Little did I know at that stage that I was destined to travel, but not as an Air Hostess.
In 2003 I began taking groups on Spiritual Retreats to swim with wild Dolphins in Ponta do Ouro in Mozambique. At the age of 29 I began seriously delving into the Ancient Philosophies and Wisdom of our world and discovered many levels of truth which spoke to my soul and began to satisfy, yet further fuel my inherent desire to know more about myself and the mysteries of life. This naturally evolved into becoming part of my full time profession, which in addition lead to facilitating group retreats.
In 2005 I broadened my horizons and took a group to explore Namibia, and in 2006 I ventured with a group to Egypt. I will always remember the excitement of my first trip to Egypt as it was one country in particular that had always "called" me. As we drove through Cairo on our way to our boat awaiting us on the Nile, the feeling of de je vu was overwhelming. I was astounded by how much was familiar to me. This was the first of 6 tours to come.
I had long known about Sacred Sites, however, being in the presence of these majestic wonders was phenomenal, and so began the fulfillment of my dream to see the world. A lot of energy goes into the preparation for my group tours, and prior to each trip I intuitively compiled workbooks for each person traveling with me consisting of guidance and insight into the reason and purpose behind their participation in the activities we had planned. At first I was very nervous to give them this information, simply because I didn't know these people personally, and here I was giving them information regarding themselves, which could have been considered a thumb suck or a load of rubbish.
Much to my surprise and delight everyone resonated with the information presented, and combined with the powerful energies present at the Sacred Sites we visited, I witnessed some of the most amazing processes of healing and transformation take place amongst my tour participants. This built my confidence in my ability to further explore what I was feeling inspired to do, and continued to respond to the inner promptings flooding me to travel to other Sacred Sites.
The most beautiful thing to witness was how powerful the shifts were for my groups, and most especially seeing people from all walks of life soul come alive in the most extraordinary ways, leading to them confidently making brave decisions, courageously following through and making their chosen life changes, which resulted in the change, healing and transformation they longed for. It is difficult to define what exactly happens on my tours, all I know for sure is that there are energies far greater than me at play, which support the soul odyssey the person has chosen to partake in with me.
Needless to say my tours became increasingly popular and I was able to spread my wings to other destinations. We travelled to all the major sites throughout Egypt over a period of 4 years, as well as to England, Ireland, Southern France, Paris, Dubai, Israel, Jordan, Canada, Peru, and more recently Russia and Turkey, and we are about to travel to Vietnam and Cambodia. Without fail people's lives continue to change as a result of the combined forces Spirit bestows upon us whilst we travel.
During my travels I was touched by the richness of the Ancient Wisdom embedded within the many cultures I encountered, and my love for our planet superseded my wildest expectation. The beauty of Mother Earth often rendered me speechless, and there were times all I could do was be silent and simply revel in the presence of what I was encountering. The purity and exquisite tranquility experienced sleeping under the stars in the White Desert of Egypt is an experience I wish upon everyone. The magnificence of Siwa in Egypt transports you into another world and the majestic presence of Petra is a sight to behold.
Nothing can prepare you for the astounding size of what you see in the structures still standing in Luxor, Karnak, Philae, Dendera, Abu Simbel, Aswan and Cairo. One of my fondest memories is standing between the feet of the Sphinx, and walking the Villa de la Rosa in Israel was a deeply personal experience. I wept standing in front of the Wailing Wall and Jerusalem is beautiful. I fell in love with the Bedouins in the Wadi Ram Desert of Jordan, and delighted like a child swimming with Dolphins in Eilat.
Carcassone, a medieval castle in Southern France was spectacular, and Paris is as stunning as I always imagined it to be. Walking in downtown Montreal is like being in another time-line, and I will never forget the palette of magical colours painted on the autumn leaves on the plethora of trees in Toronto. Niagara Falls was wet, and even in the pouring rain, it's powerful beauty is evident. Dubai's heat and humidity is smothering, but there is certainly something in the ethers knocking on the door of your imagination trying to show you some of it's hidden treasures lurking behind the decadence of it's unbridled external opulence.
Stonehenge, and Avebury each hold a unique signature, and Glastonbury is full of diverse magic. Tintagel is wild and the call of the seagulls have stuck with me. Images of Merlin wielding his wand and King Arthur making his way amongst the incredibly beautiful hills is a feast for the imagination. I love the old architecture of London, and Ireland has a unique blue print and silent power which speaks to something deep inside of you; the stirring inside is undeniable.
Macchu Picchu is spectacular in every respect, although I couldn't stomach the thought of eating Guinea Pig; one of their favourite menu specialties! However, the richness displayed in the bright colours of their creations leaves your pocket empty and you luggage bursting at the seams with crystals, jewelery, "to die for" colourful suede shoes and rugs and blankets that can brighten up the dullest of spaces. The chakra gardens of Wilka Tika caress your weary soul and leave you feeling renewed and at peace; the perfect place to be on a spiritual retreat.
Mother Russia can not be defined in a few sentences. St Petersburg and Moscow are like chalk and cheese, and Turkey too is a smorgasbord of amazing sites and energies. Every one of the places I have visited have left their mark on my soul. I have undergone intensive transformation as a result of interacting with the ancient energies present at all these countries Sacred Sites. One is changed forever.
Angor Wat in Cambodia is a sight of magnificence beyond words, and Ta Prohm's ancient trees with it's gargantuan roots grip not only the structures they share space with, but also your Spirit, tugging at the cords of remembrance deep inside you urging you to wake up to the voice of the part of you echo through your heart as it opens to welcome the healing essence of the Ancient Spirit present. The 1000 mammoth Lime Stone Islands in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, share their mysteries with you if you are willing to listen whilst sailing between and around them; what a feast of tranquility!
My in-depth studies of Medieval Astrology added to the richness of my experiences enabling me to see the messages left by our wise and "all knowing" predecessors. When your eyes are open to understanding the symbolism present in all ancient architecture left by the Wise Ones of our past you begin to read a new story. Life is rich beyond our limited and ignorant perceptions. Every interaction with these Ancient Cultures opens a door to the attic and basement of your psyche and what you discover grants you the gift of insight no-one can describe, and epiphanies shatter the confines of ingrained belief systems and the illusion these have created. It is these experiences which make Soul Odysseys such as I have experienced since 2006 so spectacular, unforgettable, soul enriching and life changing.
I can barely wait to see what Bali, Thailand and India have to share with me this year! :)
